What Brings You Joy?

What brings you joy?
These three little words have surfaced in numerous conversations lately, and they’ve made me stop and think.
In the mix of building a business, working my other business, and continuing my own personal and professional development, I almost forgot to ask myself that question.
I don’t mean I’ve been sad. I haven’t stopped having fun or enjoying life.
But somewhere along the way, I stopped asking myself:
What fills my cup? What sparks my curiosity? What brings me joy?
When I really thought about it, the answers were surprisingly simple.
Listening to music.
Singing along to the radio.
Dancing in the kitchen.
Laughing with my son.
Traveling.
Having conversations that make me think.
And then I started thinking about what brings me joy in my work.
I live for the “aha” moments.
The moment when something I share—my story, a training, a workshop, or even a simple conversation—makes someone stop and think differently.
That’s what drives me.
Making an impact.
And if I’m being honest, I haven’t been doing as much of that lately as I want to.
I’ve been networking. Connecting. Building relationships. Learning. Planning. Creating.
And I genuinely love those things.
But in the day-to-day tasks of building two businesses, I’ve realized that I’ve had fewer opportunities to do the thing that gives my work the most meaning: helping people have those “aha” moments.
So I’m making a shift.
I’m being more intentional about creating space for the things that bring me joy—not just the things that need to get done.
That may mean more checklists. More boundaries. More intention around how I spend my time. And probably a few more opportunities to turn up the music and dance in the kitchen. 😊
Because I’m realizing something:
Joy isn’t just something we find. Sometimes, it’s something we have to intentionally make room for.
And when we make room for the things that fill us, we have more to give to the people around us.
So now I’m asking you:
What brings you joy?
What’s missing right now?
And what small shift could you make to bring a little more of it into your life?
